A Police State Here
There is an interesting juxtaposition in today's Week in Review in the New York Times. The iron hand of Putin is portrayed (Putin Gambles On Raw Power) next to an article by Rick Lyman, a New York Times reporter where he tells about being denied a seat on Cheney's Air Force 2. How could a reporter from the most renowned newspaper in the world be denied access to the Vice Presidential campaign? That means that we, the readers are refused as well.
A mother of a struck down soldier is prevented from talking to reporters outside a rally by Mrs. Bush. She is even threathened with arrest.
Is this the iron hand of our government selecting who has access to news and who does not? Who has freedom of speech and who has not? What will happen if Bush and Cheney get elected? Will we all have our voices denied?
