Uncluttering
I have always been a pack rat. Now that I am advancing in years I would like to unclutter my household and life so as not to leave this job to my heirs. I also believe that there is some value here and would like to cash in while I dispose. With this in mind I took a workshop at eBay this weekend to learn how to sell that which I believe has value and do not want to keep.
This last evening I started to sort out my playbills of which I have about 300. It was a trip down memory lane and through my life. Some of what I came across I did not remember. For example, we recently saw the ballet Raymonda thinking that it was our first exposure to it. I found among my playbills one from 1975 in which Cynthia Gregory and Rudolf Nureyev danced the lead roles. Neither of us remembered seeing this. But we were there.
Part of the process of disposing seems to involve revisiting. I have a stamp collection from Lucy and a few days ago spent some time actually going through it. I had never done this before. I will have to examine and experience much of what I dispose of before I actually part with it. It's OK.
