Diversions

I tend to read books that come recommended and often will ask friends and aquaintances to suggest books that they had high regard for. And I'm also in a book club (as everyone is). Most recently I have read The Samurai Garden and The Language of Threads by Gail Tsukiyama, The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri and The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini. They were each profound in their own way but quite serious, often disturbing but worth reading.

I would like to read some good but funny and gentle books and would welcome suggestions. I recommend books by David Lodge and Alexander McCall Smith in this genre which I have greatly enjoyed. I would welcome any other suggestions from my readers.
