We live in an old neighborhood in Queens, NY. We have some old large trees (oaks) but have lost many of the original maples. Many of the homes were without trees at curbside. Several years ago we all got together and petitioned the NYC Park Department to plant new trees on our block. We got flowering cherry trees. They are now all in bloom and spectacular. Lovely.
