Idling Buses

This is becoming a bigger problem than I imagined. I met a gentleman yesterday who works for the MTA as a dispatcher in a bus depot in NYC. He told me that people who work in these depots and come into contact with these emissions are getting sick. They know about the 90 second regulation but do nothing about it. He suggested I contact the Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection of NY. I have already written the MTA but have not yet received an answer. I e-mailed the Department of Transportation and they sent a reply almost immediately. They say they that they have no jursidiction over buses at the depots since that land is owned by the MTA. I sent a reply noting some of these idling buses are on the streets in Flushing and elsewhere in the city. I will now write to the DEP. To be continued.
