I got an answer from the Department of Environmental Protection of NY asking me to monitor the idling of the buses on 39th Avenue in Flushing giving the date and time of my observation. I went there twice yesterday and lo and behold out of 8 (4 X 2) buses only one was noted to be idling and he may have been either just arriving or about to leave. Perhaps some agency has rsponded to my pleas. I will continue to watch this and also look at other layover locations in the area to cut down on idling and air polution and wasting of fuel. I also wrote Mayor Bloomberg over the weekend.
